Buddy Dewey Buddy Dewey
June 1, 1990 to July 3, 2006

Buddy was a stray who showed up at our doorstep one cold winter's day in 1991. All attempts to locate his original owners failed, so he was neutered and welcomed into our family. Buddy suffered from chronic sinusitis for most of his 16 years. His name was a perfect fit, as he was a best buddy to humans and felines in the home. We lost Buddy to renal failure over the July 4th weekend of 2006. He will always be in our hearts.
Charlie Brown Dewey
April 29, 1979 to May 30, 1998

Charlie Brown passed away at the age of 19 years old due to an apparent stroke. Charlie was our first. Debbie actually purchased him a pet store in April of 1979. He was an extremely intelligent, loyal and loving companion. He was diagnosed with kidney failure and given 6 months to live in October 1993. With proper care and plenty of TLC he lived another four and a half years. He was always Debbie's boy until his last year, when he slept on top of Paul every night.

Foster W Dewey Foster W Dewey
born: February 14, 1997

Foster W is 10 years old. Foster was adopted from a local cat shelter. where he was the last of dozens to come from a collector's house in Rochester. Foster required special care and attention and Paul was the one that brought him around. He is now an integral part of this family and very happy in his new home.
Harvey-Ritz Wickham Dewey
June 1, 1983 to April 21, 2001

Harvey-Ritz passed away just this past April after a severe case of upper respiratory infection weakened his system and his kidneys shut down. He would have been 18 in June. Harvey was adopted from a local cat shelter at the age of 16 when his owner could no longer care for him. He was only with us for a little over a year but he became a wonderful part of our family in that short time.

Horus Dewey Horus Dewey
born: May 2000

Fate has a way of handing you things... On the day we lost Isis, a young cat mysteriously appeared at our patio door. He was hungry, scared and lonely... Now, he needed name... In Egyptian mythology, the Goddess Isis gave birth to her only son, Horus. Horus later defeated Seth and became the first ruler of a united Egypt. Fate. Yes, we believe this young guy was meant to be here, appearing the very day Isis leaves this Earth. From day one he's actually known his name, too. Horus is such a love and in him we see the love that Isis shared in her last months with us. We think he was sent to carry on that affection as Isis would have wanted it. It's been a decade since we've had the pitter-patter of kitten feet in the Dewey household, but we're happy. Happy that Horus, son of Isis, is now with us.
Nelson Dewey
ca. 1990 to September 12, 2006

Nelson was about 17 years old when we lost to cancer. No one knows for sure how old he really was. He was a stray that was taken in, cleaned up and neutered by some kind soul. He spent a few years at a local cat shelter before we adopted him. He was a diabetic and received a daily dosage of insulin. Since coming to our home, his activity level was up and he turned into a lap cat and simply adored Debbie!

Opie Buttercup Dewey Opie Buttercup Dewey
June 6, 1996 to February 2, 2002

Opie Buttercup was only 5 years old when we lost him to cancer. He was a stray adopted from a local cat shelter. He thought he was a dog, as he always had to be at Paul's side no matter where in the house he went. Opie suffered from megacolon in 1999. We found the best recommended specialist, Dr. van Ee, in Buffalo and Opie had a colectomy. Two years later and he was doing just fine with that, however in August of 2001 a lump was removed from his belly. It was confirmed as lymphoma. We started chemotherapy and Opie was doing rather well until late January 2002.
Pip Leary Dewey
September 16, 1983 to May 17, 2001

Pip was adopted from a local cat shelter along with his sister, Nel. Pip joined Nel in Heaven in May. Fluid therapy and a special diet helped for a while, but chronic renal failure ultimately took him from us. Like his sister, he was hyperthyroid. Also like his sister, he had quite a loving and caring personality. It seems as if they had been in our family all their lives.

Simon Milosz Dewey Simon Milosz Dewey
ca. 1970 to December 8, 1997

Simon --born in the early 70's -- was rescued by us in 1996... he was covered with fleas and weighed in at less than 5 lbs. He recovered remarkably well and settled in with our other cats as if he'd been here all along. In 1997 a freak accident left him with a broken leg. The vet determined he was too old to endure the surgery and long recovery period so he was euthanized.

Slate Dewey
May 8, 1985 to July 13, 2001

Slate had the honors of having one of the longest consecutive stays at the cat shelter: five and a half years. He was always the "mean" guy there, but he took a liking to Paul and we adopted him in 1999. Slate was 16 years old when we lost him to CRF. Slate was also diagnosed with diabetes in December 2000. He loved to play, he loved to be kissed and he loved being a part of this family.

Snoopy Dewey Snoopy Dewey
born: August 25, 1992

Snoopy is 15 years old. We rescued him at 5 weeks old after someone had taken him away from his mother. He is a very, sweet, adorable boy but that trauma left its mark. He has been diagnosed with high anxiety and has been on transdermal antidepressant therapy for a few years and it worked well. It has given him hope. He is becoming more confident and more social and he loves to play with brothers. He definitely misses Buddy, who seemed like his very best friend for all these years.
Rascal Dewey
February 19, 1984 to January 2, 2004

Rascal came to us in March 2004, 19 years old and abandoned by his people in Maryland. His rescuers there nursed him back to health and upon arrival here he instantly became Paul's best buddy. It felt so good having him around, as if he'd been here all his life. It was a match made in Heaven! Unfortunately late in the his kidneys failed, and he was put to rest just after the new year, weeks shy of what would have been his 20th birthday.
